ASELSAN, Turkey’s leading defense contractor, is making a significant investment in advanced radar technology. The company is constructing a new manufacturing facility in Ankara, with an investment reportedly reaching several hundred million dollars.

ASELSAN’s efforts extend beyond hardware. The company is also developing advanced software solutions designed to integrate these new radar systems with existing reconnaissance, airspace management, and command systems. This initiative aims to bolster Turkey’s security through domestically produced technology.

While not officially confirmed, sources suggest that the new facility will produce several key radar systems. Reports indicate that the contract encompasses the ALP 300-G, Turkey’s first long-range early warning radar system. This S-band radar, engineered explicitly for the Turkish Air Force, features an active electronically scanned array (AESA) and is designed for deployment on various mobile platforms.

Another system reportedly included is the ALP 100-G, a scalable low-altitude air surveillance system. Also employing S-band technology and AESA, this radar can operate independently or be used to fill gaps in the coverage of long-range radar systems.

Beyond radar, ASELSAN has also secured a $54 million contract with the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) for next-generation electronic warfare systems. This agreement, scheduled for delivery in 2028, further demonstrates ASELSAN’s commitment to providing the Turkish Armed Forces with cutting-edge defense capabilities.
