Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, and BlackRock, which has a board member at the AI company, are joining forces with one of OpenAI’s primary competitors.
Abu Dhabi’s MGX, Microsoft, and BlackRock have announced that Elon Musk’s xAI is now a participant in their initiative to build $US30 billion ($47.4 billion) worth of data centers and other artificial intelligence infrastructure. Nvidia, the AI chipmaker previously named as a technical advisor, is also formally joining the project, according to a statement released on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT). The statement did not disclose the financial commitments of each member.
