Meta is expanding access to its AI assistant, Meta AI, across Europe. After its initial launch in the US in 2023, the company is bringing the chat function to six European languages in the coming weeks.
Now Available Through the Apps You Know and Love
Meta AI will be available for free across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Users can access it by tapping a new blue circle icon within these apps.
Meta anticipates users will leverage the assistant for various daily tasks, such as answering questions, delving into topics, and problem-solving. The accessibility and ease of use within the already familiar Meta apps are key features.
An On-Call Assistant in Your Group Chats
Meta AI will also be available in group chats, starting with WhatsApp. The feature will soon roll out to Messenger and Instagram Direct Messaging. Users can simply type “@MetaAI” followed by a prompt or question. This feature aims to assist with tasks like planning trips, brainstorming ideas, and resolving debates.
Curated Content at Your Fingertips
Meta AI is designed to make content discovery more efficient. By generating results across various content types, including reels and posts, the assistant aims to offer relevant information based on user interests. For example, users can ask Meta AI to “show me Vancouver Island content” to inspire their travel plans.
The chat feature will also provide access to information from the web, streamlining the process of gathering information.
Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce more AI products worldwide, including personalized features and creative tools like AI Studio.
