Meta AI Launches in Europe
Meta is expanding its AI presence by launching Meta AI in Europe across its suite of messaging platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The move follows the 2023 launch of Meta AI in the US. The chat function is now available in six European languages.
“It’s taken longer than we would have liked to get our AI technology into the hands of people in Europe as we continue to navigate its complex regulatory system – but we’re glad we’re finally here,” the company stated.
Accessible Across Familiar Apps
Meta AI is designed to provide users with an intelligent and conversational assistant directly within the apps they already use daily. The assistant can be accessed for free across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Users can identify Meta AI by a new blue circle icon. Tapping the icon allows users to explore the tool’s capabilities.
Users worldwide are already leveraging Meta AI for various tasks. These include answering questions, exploring topics, and getting assistance. The ease of access is especially convenient for on-the-go use.
Group Chat Integration
Meta AI is coming to group chats. Users can summon the assistant by typing “@MetaAI” followed by their prompt or question. Initially available on WhatsApp, the feature will soon expand to Messenger and Instagram Direct Messaging. The assistant is designed to aid in various group activities, from planning trips to resolving debates.
Content Discovery
Meta AI is also designed to simplify content discovery. The tool can generate results from reels and posts. Users can now use Meta AI to find content; for example, planning a trip to Vancouver Island, simply asking “show me Vancouver Island content.”
The Meta AI chat feature will also integrate web information for convenient access and added context.
Meta plans to further expand its intelligent functions globally, including personalization features and AI Studio.
