Trump’s Crypto Policies Attract Irish Tech Executives
US President Donald Trump’s administration has implemented crypto-friendly policies, attracting support from Irish tech executives. The Collison brothers, founders of Stripe, and Eoghan McCabe, founder of Intercom, have shown backing for Trump’s cryptocurrency initiatives.

In 2017, the Collison brothers publicly criticized Trump’s immigration policies, donating tens of thousands of dollars to the American Civil Liberties Union. However, Patrick Collison has since supported Republican candidates, making significant donations. Despite not endorsing Trump, Collison’s association with Republican supporters has grown.
Eoghan McCabe, Intercom’s founder, has been a vocal Trump supporter, donating over $200,000 to the president’s election campaign and the Republican Party in 2024. McCabe has also expressed enthusiasm for Trump’s crypto policies.
Trump’s administration has taken several crypto-friendly measures, including establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve and appointing a new head of the Securities and Exchange Commission more favorable to the crypto industry. Stripe has resumed offering crypto services, acquiring stablecoin platform Bridge for over $1 billion.
The mainstreaming of crypto under Trump’s presidency offers potential growth for companies like Stripe. However, the performance of cryptocurrencies has been volatile, and some of Trump’s protectionist policies have negatively impacted tech companies.
Despite these challenges, Irish tech executives continue to show support for Trump’s crypto initiatives, seeing them as crucial to their future success.
