As AI continues to advance, organizations and communities worldwide have a crucial role to play in unlocking its positive impact. At Microsoft, the focus is on helping customers use and build AI that is trustworthy, meaning secure, safe, and private. The company has made significant commitments to ensure Trustworthy AI and is developing industry-leading supporting technology.
Strengthening AI Security
Security is Microsoft’s top priority, and their expanded Secure Future Initiative (SFI) underscores company-wide commitments to making customers more secure. The SFI is guided by three principles: secure by design, secure by default, and secure operations. Microsoft’s AI services come with foundational security controls, such as built-in functions to prevent prompt injections and copyright violations. Two new capabilities are being introduced: Evaluations in Azure AI Studio to support proactive risk assessments, and Microsoft 365 Copilot will provide transparency into web queries to help admins and users better understand how web search enhances the Copilot response.

Customers are already benefiting from Microsoft’s security capabilities. For instance, Cummins used Microsoft Purview to strengthen their data security and governance, while EPAM Systems deployed Microsoft 365 Copilot for 300 users due to the data protection provided by Microsoft.
Enhancing AI Safety
Microsoft’s Responsible AI principles, established in 2018, guide how they build and deploy AI safely across the company. New capabilities are being introduced to help customers pursue the benefits of AI while mitigating risks. These include a Correction capability in Microsoft Azure AI Content Safety’s Groundedness detection feature to help fix hallucination issues in real-time, and Embedded Content Safety, which allows customers to embed Azure AI Content Safety on devices.
Protecting Privacy in AI
Data is at the foundation of AI, and Microsoft’s priority is to help ensure customer data is protected and compliant through their long-standing privacy principles. New announcements include Confidential inferencing in preview in Azure OpenAI Service Whisper model, and the general availability of Azure Confidential VMs with NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, which allow customers to secure data directly on the GPU.
With these new capabilities, Microsoft continues to enable customers to use and build trustworthy AI solutions that help every person and organization achieve more. Trustworthy AI is essential to Microsoft’s mission to expand opportunity, earn trust, protect fundamental rights, and advance sustainability.
