Anthropic Plans Voice Upgrade for AI Assistant Claude
Anthropic is set to enhance its AI assistant Claude with voice capabilities, according to a Bloomberg report citing an unnamed source. The new “voice mode” is expected to be released this month, initially available on a limited basis. The feature will include three voices, as revealed through a review of the app’s publicly available iOS code.

The development comes on the same day Anthropic announced two new capabilities for Claude: Research, which enables the AI to search across the user’s internal work context and the web, and a Google Workspace integration connecting it to email, calendar, and documents. “This is just the beginning of updates to make Claude an even better collaborator,” Anthropic stated, promising further expansions in content sources and research depth in the coming weeks.
This move follows OpenAI and Meta’s introduction of AI voice features in 2024. According to PYMNTS Intelligence reports, generative AI is experiencing rapid growth across generations, with 82% of Gen Z and 78% of zillennials familiar with GenAI. The integration of voice technology could potentially revive the declining voice assistant market, with 54% of consumers preferring voice interaction because it’s faster.
As Anthropic continues to develop Claude’s capabilities, the AI landscape is evolving with major players enhancing their offerings. The addition of voice features to Claude positions it for more natural and personalized interactions, potentially transforming how users engage with AI assistants.
