The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore has strengthened its commitment to public health collaboration in Vietnam through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health Strategy and Policy Institute (HSPI) under Vietnam’s Ministry of Health. The MoU was signed during a two-day strategic retreat in Hanoi that brought together senior representatives from both institutions to explore opportunities for joint collaboration in research, policy engagement, and public health education.
HSPI plays a crucial role in providing health policy advice, conducting research, and supporting Vietnam’s Ministry of Health in shaping national health priorities. The newly signed MoU will facilitate cooperation in key areas such as health financing, health technology assessment (HTA), tobacco control policy, and capacity building through education and leadership training.
The collaboration aims to strengthen Vietnam’s health system and advance regional public health objectives through a multi-year plan. This partnership represents a significant step in enhancing public health cooperation between Singapore and Vietnam, with potential benefits extending to the broader region.
Key Areas of Collaboration
- Health financing
- Health technology assessment (HTA)
- Tobacco control policy
- Capacity building through education and leadership training
The retreat concluded with a strong commitment from both parties to implement the collaboration plan, marking an important milestone in Singapore-Vietnam public health cooperation.
