St. Luke’s University Health Network has made a significant investment of over $30 million in GE HealthCare’s advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology. This investment aims to improve patient access to high-quality imaging while reducing scan times and patient discomfort. The new MRI systems feature wider scanners to minimize claustrophobia and are equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance image quality and scan speed.

Enhancing Patient Care and Operational Efficiency

The investment in GE HealthCare’s MRI technology is part of St. Luke’s ongoing commitment to providing the best imaging solutions for diagnosis and treatment planning across various medical specialties, including orthopedics, cardiology, and oncology. Standardizing imaging technology across the network is expected to improve operational efficiency and expand patient access to advanced care.

Key Features of the New MRI Systems

    • Wider scanners to reduce claustrophobia
    • AI technology to improve image quality and scan speed
    • Potential to reduce scan times by up to 83% with GE HealthCare’s Sonic DL AI application
    • Capability to capture heart images in as little as a single heartbeat

    Advancing Radiation Therapy Planning

St. Luke’s will be one of the first health systems in the United States to implement GE HealthCare’s Intelligent Radiation Therapy (iRT) for MR. This software solution can improve and accelerate radiation oncology care pathways, enabling more precise radiation therapy planning and potentially shortening the timeline to treatment for certain types of cancers.

    Educational Opportunities for Medical Professionals

The new technology also presents significant educational opportunities for physicians in residency and fellowship training programs. They will gain hands-on experience with the latest AI-driven imaging technology, positioning them at the forefront of next-generation medicine.
