A robotic hair-washing system that has gained significant attention in southern China is set to enter the Hong Kong market in June. Faxiaoka AI Hair Care, which operates around 40 stores across Guangdong, Fujian, and Hunan provinces, is bringing its innovative technology to Hong Kong.
The Technology
The Faxiaoka AI Hair Care system features a massage table equipped with electronic massagers and a helmet-shaped module for washing hair. The module contains high-pressure water tubes that clean hair from multiple directions and a therapy system using low-level red light wavelengths to help treat skin conditions.
Current Features and Limitations
The basic service, priced under 20 yuan (approximately US$2.70), lasts about 16 minutes. However, the system currently requires manual assistance to start the machine and adjust settings based on customer preferences. Additionally, it doesn’t dry hair, necessitating a separate drying process either by the customer or a shop assistant.
Future Developments
The company is working on a second-generation system scheduled for release in June. This updated version will include a drying function and allow users to start the machine by scanning a QR code with their smartphones. He Qiufeng, founder and chairwoman of Guangdong Sheng Tai Health Technology Group, which owns Faxiaoka, announced that the first Hong Kong store will open in June with six of these advanced machines.

This expansion into Hong Kong comes after the technology gained popularity in mainland China, demonstrating the growing interest in innovative hair care solutions.
