Adobe Expands Firefly with New AI Models for Image and Video Generation
Adobe has simplified the process of choosing AI image generators with the latest update to its Firefly app, introduced at Adobe Max London. The app now includes multiple AI models for image and video generation, making it easier for users to select the best model for their specific needs.
New Firefly Models
The update includes the Firefly Image Model 4 and Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra, described by Adobe as the fastest, most controllable, and most realistic image models yet. These models can generate high-quality images up to 2K resolution and offer advanced control over camera angles, zoom, and speed. Image Model 4 Ultra excels at generating detailed and realistic images, particularly for complex scenes.

Expanded Video Generation Capabilities
Adobe has also made its Firefly Video Model generally available, moving from public beta. This model allows users to generate high-quality video clips from text prompts or images, with customization options for camera angles and cinematic movement. Additionally, the new Firefly Vector Model, which powers Text-to-Vector, is now generally available.
Partner Models
To provide users with more flexibility, Firefly now includes image models from OpenAI (GPT-4o), Google (Imagen 3), Google Veo 2, and Flux 1.1 Pro. Adobe plans to add more partner models in the coming months. The inclusion of these models allows users to switch between different generation capabilities, such as improved text generation within images.
Commercial Safety and Content Credentials
All Firefly models, including the new ones, are commercially safe and generate IP-friendly content. Adobe clearly indicates which model is being used for content generation, allowing enterprise customers to control the use of partner models within their organizations. Adobe’s Content Credentials, which provide detailed information about the content’s creation, are automatically added to images generated using any model on the platform.
Introducing Firefly Boards
Adobe has also launched Firefly Boards, a new AI-first platform for creating mood boards or storyboards. This feature enables collaborative brainstorming and project planning before execution. The interface is similar to Figma, with embedded Firefly capabilities that allow users to bring their ideas to life with simple prompts.
Accessing the New Features
The new models, including Image Model 4 and Firefly Video Model, are available through Firefly on the web. Firefly Boards is currently available in public beta on the Firefly app. Users can access Firefly on the web today, with mobile apps for iOS and Android coming soon.
