Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday that Türkiye ranks among the world’s top three countries in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. Speaking at the TEKNOFEST Award Ceremony in Lefkosa, Erdogan expressed confidence in Türkiye’s future technological advancements.

TRNC President Ersin Tatar praised Türkiye’s defence industry achievements, noting that the institutions behind these successes are monuments of pride for the entire Turkic world. TEKNOFEST, Türkiye’s premier technology, aviation, and space event, attracted around 62,000 visitors on its first day in Lefkosa. The event is organised by the Turkish Technology Team (T3) Foundation and Türkiye’s Industry and Technology Ministry, with support from numerous government bodies, private sector partners, and universities.
The TEKNOFEST event in the TRNC marked its second international hosting, following Azerbaijan’s hosting for its 10th edition. In 2024, the event in Adana attracted approximately 1.1 million visitors. Selcuk Bayraktar, a key figure in TEKNOFEST, expressed the aspiration for the TRNC to become the world’s centre of attraction in tech and science in the heart of the Mediterranean.
