Irish Medical Technology Company Targets UK Expansion
A Louth-based medical technology company behind Ireland’s National Cardiac Device Registry is planning to expand into the UK market, creating 20 new jobs to support its growth.
Heart Rhythm Ireland is rebranding as Heart Rhythm International (HRI) as it seeks to develop business in the UK. The company expects to add 30 additional hospitals and approximately 50,000 patients to its network in the UK by 2029, anticipating €3 million in revenue growth.

“We’re managing our expansion step by step, focusing initially on the UK market,” said Robert Kelly, CEO of HRI. The company also plans to enter the Australian and New Zealand markets in the coming years, with potential expansion into the US market.
HRI operates a cloud-based cardiac rhythm management platform that provides real-time patient cardiac information to patients and their medical teams. The company is developing artificial intelligence and predictive analytics capabilities through its cardiac device management portal to give patients earlier insights into their health.
“Through our system, patients receive greater peace of mind and better health outcomes, while medical personnel can make more informed and efficient decisions. Ultimately, that improves patient care and helps save lives,” Kelly explained.
The company has already demonstrated its capability in Ireland by supporting over 65,000 patients and working with more than 50 hospitals nationwide. HRI was founded in 2008 and currently employs 10 people, with plans to grow its team to 30 in the coming years.
As HRI expands, it aims to enhance cardiac care internationally while supporting more patients and doctors overseas. The company’s UK expansion is part of its broader strategy to become a major player in global cardiac care technology.
