Mark Hamill Trolls Trump Over AI-Generated ‘Star Wars’ Portrait

Mark Hamill, the actor who originated Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, quickly reacted to President Donald Trump’s artificial intelligence-generated Jedi portrait shared by the White House over the weekend.

The image, created using AI, shows Trump wielding a red lightsaber in front of two American flags and eagles, wearing a sleeveless Jedi robe that reveals bulging muscles. Hamill took to Bluesky to criticize the image, writing, “Proof this guy is full of SITH.” He was responding to a post from Mrs. Betty Bowers, a satirical character created by Canadian comedian Deven Green.

Bowers pointed out that in Star Wars lore, those who have embraced the Dark Side of the Force wield red lightsabers. The White House shared the controversial image on Sunday to celebrate Star Wars Day, a fan holiday that coincides with the date May 4, sounding like the franchise’s iconic phrase “May the Force be with you.”

Hamill, a vocal opponent of Trump, has been critical of the former president for years. He previously joined forces with other notable figures, including J.J. Abrams and Josh Gad, to support Kamala Harris’ presidential bid during the last election season as part of the group White Dudes for Harris.

The Star Wars Day celebrations weren’t limited to the AI-generated image. In the Bay Area, fans celebrated with various events, including a special ‘Star Wars’-themed ‘starship’ ride on BART, film screenings, craft parties, and even a burlesque show.

Hamill’s reaction to Trump’s AI-generated portrait highlights the ongoing cultural divide and the use of AI-generated content in political satire and commentary.
