The Trump administration is focused on freeing up more electromagnetic spectrum to power wireless communication, according to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr. Speaking on Bloomberg TV, Carr stated that this move could generate $80 billion in government revenue and help the US better compete with China in the technology race.

Carr’s comments align with members of the US Congress, such as Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who share the administration’s and FCC’s goal of making more commercial spectrum available to wireless companies. This move is also seen as a way to help offset national budget constraints.

The push for spectrum allocation is part of a broader effort to maintain US leadership in technology, particularly against China. The FCC’s initiative is expected to have significant implications for the wireless communication industry and the US economy.

As the US navigates this technological competition, the role of AI is also becoming increasingly important. Carr’s call for AI leadership underscores the need for the US to stay ahead in this critical area.
