Israeli Defense Tech Startup Line 5 Raises $20M in Seed Funding

A new Israeli defense tech startup, Line 5, has made significant waves in the industry by completing the largest Seed funding round this year, securing $20 million. The company was co-founded just a few months ago by Gigi Levy-Weiss, founder of the NFX venture capital fund, and Yiftach Shoolman, co-founder of the cybersecurity unicorn Redis.

The funding round was led by the NFX fund and included prominent angel investors as well as the Iron Nation fund. Line 5’s development remains confidential, but CEO Shoolman, a former Sayeret Matkal fighter, aims to transform the battlefield to reduce soldier risk. Levy-Weiss, known for his focus on the gaming sector, serves as the company’s chairman.

This successful funding comes amid a boom in Israel’s defense tech sector. Recently, Kela Technologies, another Israeli defense tech startup, secured an additional $60 million in funding, bringing its total to $100 million since its founding in July 2024. Kela develops an open, modular software platform to help Western militaries integrate emerging commercial technologies into existing systems.

Line 5’s achievement highlights Israel’s growing influence in the defense tech industry, with significant investments and innovations emerging from the region.
