Billie Eilish recently addressed fans on Instagram after they criticized her supposed Met Gala look, which turned out to be AI-generated. The singer clarified that she wasn’t at the event and was actually performing in Europe at the time. “Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala ‘being trash.’ I wasn’t there!” Eilish said in an Instagram Story. “That’s AI. I had a show in Europe that night. Let me be! I wasn’t even there!”

Eilish had performed in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome on May 4 and 5, with another concert scheduled for May 7, making it impossible for her to attend the Met Gala in New York City. This incident isn’t isolated, as AI-generated images of other celebrities, like Katy Perry, have also circulated online in previous years. Perry jokingly addressed the mix-up on social media, saying she was on tour and not at the Met Gala.

The proliferation of AI-generated images has raised concerns about deepfakes and their potential impact on public perception. Other artists, like Martina McBride, have spoken out about the issue, urging Congress to address the problem. As AI technology continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the entertainment industry will navigate these challenges.
