    The tech layoff wave persists into 2025, with more than 22,000 workers affected across the industry so far this year. According to independent layoffs tracker Layoffs.fyi, last year saw over 150,000 job cuts across 549 companies.

    Recent Layoffs

    Major tech companies have continued to announce significant layoffs in 2025. Some notable examples include:

    • Amazon: Laid off around 100 employees from its devices and services division
    • Microsoft: Plans to cut over 6,500 jobs, affecting 3% of its worldwide workforce
    • Chegg: Reportedly plans to let go of 248 employees, or about 22% of its workforce
    • Match: Reducing its workforce by 13% as part of a reorganization
    • CrowdStrike: Laying off 5% of its global workforce, or around 500 people
