Amazon Announces $10 Billion Investment in North Carolina
Amazon is bringing hundreds of jobs to North Carolina as part of a massive $10 billion investment in a new high-tech facility. The facility, which will be located in Richmond County, will serve as a campus for cloud computing and artificial intelligence innovation, creating 500 “high-paying” jobs, according to a news release.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein expressed his enthusiasm about the investment, stating, “Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work and innovate, and I am pleased that North Carolina will stay at the forefront of all that’s ahead as we continue to attract top technology companies.” He added that Amazon’s investment is among the largest in state history and will bring “hundreds of good-paying jobs and an economic boost to Richmond County.”
This new development comes on the heels of Amazon opening a new facility in Kannapolis earlier this year, creating around 100 new jobs. The company already has 24,000 full and part-time employees in North Carolina. While the exact opening date for the Richmond County facility remains unclear, the investment is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy.
For those interested in working at Amazon’s facilities, more information can be found on their website. Richmond County, located about 90 minutes east of Charlotte, includes the city of Rockingham and is set to benefit from this substantial investment.
