Amazon Unveils AI-Powered Technology to Boost Same-Day Deliveries
Amazon has launched a new Agentic AI team at its Lab126 research and development hub in Sunnyvale, California, to enhance its delivery capabilities. The technology, developed in the South Bay, aims to enable same-day deliveries by improving the company’s logistics and supply chain management.

The Agentic AI systems are designed to make decisions and take actions with minimal human supervision, potentially revolutionizing the way robots operate in Amazon’s distribution and logistics hubs. According to Amazon, this technology represents a “fundamental shift in robotics” by creating systems that can “hear, understand, and act on natural language commands.” This development could turn warehouse robots into “flexible, multi-talented assistants.”
In addition to the Agentic AI team, Amazon is also utilizing a new artificial intelligence system to power its supply chain optimization technology (SCOT). This system can process over 400 million items across 270 different time periods, predicting customer demand and reducing delivery times by nearly a full day while lowering the company’s carbon footprint.
The new supply chain model takes a predictive approach, analyzing both past outcomes and future trends to improve the customer experience. Amazon claims that this model can predict what hundreds of millions of customers will want, where they’ll want it, and when, ensuring timely delivery without unnecessary waste.
This delivery effort has already gone live across the United States, with items that previously took two days to arrive now potentially being delivered on the same day. The technology recognizes local demand patterns, ensuring customers receive what they need without delay.
Furthermore, Amazon is analyzing building images and photos to improve delivery efforts by drivers. This innovation makes it easier for drivers to find the correct delivery spot, particularly in complex locations like large office complexes or university campuses. As a result, customers receive their packages faster and with fewer errors, while drivers spend less time determining the best delivery path.
Amazon’s advancements in AI technology are poised to significantly enhance its delivery capabilities, providing customers with faster and more efficient service.
