Taiwanese Tech Companies Eye Malaysian Market Expansion
KUALA LUMPUR: Two Taiwan-based technology companies, Datavideo Technologies and Jian Ling Technology, are looking to expand their presence in the Malaysian market. At the Taiwan Expo 2025, Datavideo Technologies’ Managing Director for Asia-Pacific, Frank YC Lin, announced that the company is capitalizing on Malaysia’s increasing demand for video content.
“Malaysia is a relatively new market for us, with our office established here within the last four to six years. However, we anticipate steady growth over the next 10 to 20 years as the demand for video content continues to rise,” Lin explained to SunBiz. The company’s systems are already being utilized in various sectors including government, healthcare, education, and event production. For instance, Sukma recently acquired Datavideo equipment for the Sukma Games.
Lin highlighted that video has become the preferred medium for communication, replacing traditional paper-based methods in marketing and branding. “We observe video being used across numerous applications, and Datavideo provides solutions for all these needs. This is why we’re part of the Taiwan Excellence program. We’re confident that our growth will persist even if market trends shift.”
Datavideo specializes in manufacturing broadcast and AV products for live video production, focusing on portable and cost-effective modular systems. Their camera range includes broadcast-quality PTZ units with various connectivity options. At the expo, they showcased the ShowCast 100, a 4-channel, 4K all-in-one studio that utilizes AI technology. “These cameras can automatically track a designated person from up to 30 meters away, enabling a single person to manage all camera operations and switching during an event without needing a full crew,” Lin said.
Datavideo’s client base includes major Malaysian broadcasters such as TV3, RTM, and Astro, as well as educational institutions like USIM and Unisza.
Meanwhile, Jian Ling Technology’s CEO, Gary Liu, is also exploring opportunities to enter the Malaysian market. “Malaysia’s rapidly growing economy and healthcare industry make it a promising market. We’re actively seeking reliable agents or distribution partners to collaborate with,” Liu stated. Although their products lack Malaysian certification, Liu is optimistic about obtaining it, given their existing FDA Class 2 approval in the United States.
Liu emphasized that Jian Ling’s medical devices offer benefits beyond aesthetics, particularly in cancer recovery. “Our machine enhances oxygen delivery, making cancer treatment more effective. Patients who use it 24 hours after chemotherapy have shown increased resilience as it helps the drug penetrate the tumor area more effectively.”
Founded in 2006, Jian Ling is a Class 2 FDA-certified medical device manufacturer that has transitioned from being an electronics contract manufacturer to a healthcare and wellness-focused company. Their flagship products include the HydroLight High-Penetration Detox Capsule and the SmartMotion Smart Fitness/Health/Rehabilitation Management System.
