SHARP Literacy Announces Annual Fundraiser Featuring CodeBaby CEO

Milwaukee, WI – SHARP Literacy is gearing up for its annual fundraising event, “A Novel Event,” slated for Wednesday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Pfister Hotel, located at 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. This year’s event, presented by Andrea and Jim Schloemer, will spotlight the organization’s innovative partnership with CodeBaby, aiming to enhance STEAM-based learning for students.

The event’s highlight will be a keynote presentation by Norrie Daroga, CEO of CodeBaby. Attendees will learn about the merging worlds of AI, 3D animation, and avatars that will come to life. Furthermore, three students from SHARP, aged 9-10, will demonstrate avatars they created through the program and participate in live instructional content activities.

“In partnership with CodeBaby, we are taking our award-winning curriculum to the next level and empowering our students to explore the world of technology in a whole new way,” said Lynda Welsh, president and CEO of SHARP Literacy.

SHARP Literacy’s collaboration with CodeBaby seeks to make STEAM education more interactive and engaging for underserved students, utilizing 3D avatars to enhance the learning experience. Welsh expressed the organization’s hope of inspiring students and providing them with practical skills to excel in and out of the classroom.

    Literacy Champion Awards

During “A Novel Event,” SHARP Literacy will present its annual Literacy Champion Awards. This year’s honorees include: SHARP Literacy board member Lori Bechthold and her husband Kurt, recognized for their sustained personal and corporate support of SHARP’s programs. Brady Corporation will also be awarded for its ongoing commitment to SHARP’s mission. Kate Venne, the senior director of corporate communications and social responsibility at Brady Corp., will accept the award.

    Event Details and Sponsorships

Tickets for the event, which include dinner and a silent auction, are available for $200 for standard admission and $300 for VIP. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling (414) 410-3205. Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities at various levels are also available. All funds raised will support SHARP’s STEAM-based experiential program. The program reaches over 8,500 students, from K3 to fifth grade, and educators in 49 urban schools across Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha.
