Trump Proposes US Takeover and Reconstruction of Gaza, Accompanied by AI-Generated Vision
During a recent news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former President Donald Trump stated his intention for the United States to take over and rebuild the Gaza Strip. Trump’s plan, as he described it, involves transforming the territory into a “Riviera of the Middle East.”
This proposal comes alongside the circulation of an AI-generated video that supports Trump’s vision for Gaza’s future. The video appeared on his Truth Social platform on February 25, 2025. The video juxtaposes images of the current state of Gaza, including scenes of poverty, damage, and conflict, with computer-generated images of a luxurious resort town, complete with skyscrapers and beaches.

The lyrics of the video’s accompanying music describe “Trump’s Gaza” as finally here, showcasing AI renderings of Trump, Elon Musk, and Benjamin Netanyahu. Several scenes depict children dancing under falling money.
It’s unclear who created the AI video, as Trump did not include any editorial notes or comments when sharing it. The use of computer-generated imagery is evident given the scenes.
Trump’s proposal to “empty” Gaza of its over two million Palestinian residents and rebuild it, has been met with rejection from Palestinians, although Trump’s supporters suggest it is part of a negotiation strategy.

The backdrop to this proposal is the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, rooted in the 1948 war. The history is also impacted by the 1967 war, in which Israel captured the West Bank, east Jerusalem, and Gaza. Palestinians want those territories for an independent state.
The use of AI-generated images in this context highlights a broader trend of utilizing this technology to spread political messages and promote agendas. Generative AI produces videos, photos, or text using various inputs, and such images have become important tools in current political dialog.
This strategy, however, does not come without criticism and potential misuse; for instance, some AI-generated images have been used as propaganda.
