Startup Studio: Building a Strong Business
Do you have a business idea or a fledgling business that could use some structure and informed planning? The Women’s Business Center at Coastal Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) is offering a free 12-week online program, “Startup Studio,” specifically designed to help female entrepreneurs build strong, innovative, and sustainable tech-enabled* businesses. The program begins February 27th.
This hands-on program addresses the unique challenges faced by female entrepreneurs by focusing on core business concepts. Participants will develop a business model canvas to validate assumptions, identify key customer segments, and define value propositions and revenue streams. The program will include insights into market opportunities and crafting of compelling pitch statements.
In addition to facilitated sessions and peer learning, each participant will receive four hours of one-on-one coaching with the facilitator, Ashley Baldwin, outside of the regular sessions. This individualized coaching focuses on refining business plans and taking ideas to the next level.
After completing the program, participants will join a growing community of alumnae in Maine. This network provides ongoing support and resources for building their businesses.
“Female entrepreneurs face unique hurdles, and this program is designed to address them head-on,” said CEI. “We want to empower women with the tools and connections they need to succeed.”
Ashley Baldwin, the facilitator, has extensive experience advising technology startups in Maine and developing products across nonprofits and startups.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Maine-based female entrepreneur.
- Participants do not need specific experience or expertise.
- A concrete business idea is recommended for the best experience.
*We define “tech-enabled” as using a website, social media, AI, or other online tools to manage, market, and grow your business.
