Sleep technology firm Sleep Cycle has announced that its Chief Technology Officer, Mikael Kågebäck, will be a keynote speaker at the University of Cambridge’s “Audio-based AI for Respiratory Health Monitoring” event on March 13. The event aims to facilitate collaboration between academic researchers and industry professionals in the field of AI-driven health monitoring.

Kågebäck, a Ph.D., will present Sleep Cycle’s innovative work on its Cough Radar system in a talk entitled “Harnessing Live Cough Data to Visualize Global Trends.” He will demonstrate how the company leverages real-time sound data to generate insights into global health patterns, thereby illustrating the expanded potential of AI in health monitoring.

“We tend to think of AI in terms of image recognition or text analysis, but audio data represents an underutilized resource in the realm of health technology,” Kågebäck explained. “By analyzing coughs, we can obtain early indicators of new flu outbreaks or other respiratory illnesses, even before they become widespread.”

The event will feature presentations by leading experts and include opportunities for dynamic discussions and hands-on demonstrations. Sleep Cycle encourages professionals, researchers, and industry enthusiasts to participate in the event to explore the future of AI-driven health technology. Registration details are available online.

About Sleep Cycle: Sleep Cycle is committed to making healthy sleep accessible to all. The company’s app aids users in establishing healthy sleep habits, identifying potential sleep problems, and gaining valuable insights into individual sleep patterns. Utilizing patented sound technology and analyzing over 3 billion sleep sessions, Sleep Cycle delivers high accuracy and customized guidance. Sleep Cycle is traded on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker SLEEP and is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.
