Users worldwide were impacted by a global outage of Microsoft’s Outlook email system, with reports indicating that people found themselves locked out of their accounts and unable to access their online mail.
Around 4 PM ET on March 1st, 2025, users took to social media platforms to report their inability to access their emails, which caused many to scramble to find a solution to the problem. The online report website DownDetector registered over 30,000 reports within minutes, demonstrating the widespread nature of the issue.
As of the time of writing, Microsoft has not provided any explanation for the cause of the system’s problems and, consequently, no solution has been offered. Users have reported repeatedly refreshing pages with no effect, suggesting that the public will need to wait until Microsoft’s technical teams can restore service.
In addition to the email service, Microsoft Online is also experiencing issues. Again, no solution is available at this moment, and users are simply awaiting a resolution from the company.
