Bitcoin, the world’s leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization, experienced a significant surge on Sunday, rising approximately 6.06% to reach $89,359 at 1620 GMT. Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency, also saw gains, increasing by 1.36% to $2,253 at 1622 GMT.
The price increases followed an announcement by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated on Sunday that his recent executive order on digital assets instructed his team to establish “a Crypto Strategic Reserve that includes XRP, SOL, and ADA.”
This news has injected renewed optimism into the cryptocurrency market, with investors reacting positively to the prospect of government support and strategic backing for digital assets.
