AfroTech Conference 2024: Houston Hosts Tech Innovation
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The 2024 AfroTech Conference made its debut at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, marking a significant milestone for the event and the city. As the largest Black tech conference in the United States, AfroTech brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech professionals from across the industry.
“It’s just a fun time to be around people who are looking for opportunities and looking to build their network,” said Horane Henry, an Executive Director of Software Engineering at Disney.

This year, The Walt Disney Company returned as a sponsor of the conference. D’Yanna Craighead, Disney’s senior manager of software engineering, was a featured speaker.
“A lot of people don’t know that Disney is a tech company,” Craighead said. “Behind the scenes, there is so much technology that goes into bringing that magic to life.”
Disney also demonstrated its commitment to supporting the next generation of tech talent by sponsoring the attendance of 15 students from Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University.
AfroTech 2024 took place from November 13th to 16th at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
