AI-Powered Tool Promises Relief from Email Overload
For many professionals, the daily onslaught of emails has become a source of stress, distraction, and decreased productivity. One company is looking to change that, leveraging the power of artificial intelligence to reclaim control over our inboxes.
Cristina Grau-Vilchez, CEO of Twintual, an AI-driven communication assistant, is on a mission to help people manage the relentless flow of digital messages. The inspiration for Twintual came from her own struggles with email overload. “I was totally overwhelmed by this enormous message onslaught that I was getting,” she explained. “I couldn’t disregard certain messages from my company or my Harvard PI, but I also didn’t have the opportunity to respond to every message immediately.”
The Problem with Email
This is a real problem. A 2025 ZeroBounce survey found that a significant percentage of people struggle with the sheer volume of emails. The survey revealed that:
- 42% of respondents check their inbox three to five times a day.
- 35% spend up to five hours a day reading emails.
- 79% check email for important work messages.
- 43% unsubscribe from lists due to email volume.
According to Grau-Vilchez this constant demand on our attention also creates unnecessary cognitive stress. “We think that we communicate nowadays in a not-healthy way, and it has to be improved,” she noted.
How Twintual Works
Twintual aims to simplify digital communication by utilizing behavioral AI to draft email responses, summarize discussions, and even reply to messages. Importantly, the tool clearly indicates when AI, and not a human, has composed the content.
Unlike some other AI email assistants, Twintual is designed to be a cross-functional tool that works across various messaging platforms, including Gmail, Outlook, Slack, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp. The tool classifies messages by urgency and user action, then auto-drafts responses that can be edited before sending. Grau-Vilchez emphasizes the importance of user control. “One of our beta users said to me, ‘I want AI to suggest email drafts, but I don’t want it to send them out without my permission,’ — and that’s what we’re building,” she said. Twintual plans to start by focusing on businesses with its Pro and Custom plans, before offering it to individual users.
Flexibility and Privacy
Twintual aims to distinguish itself by prioritizing flexibility and privacy. Grau-Vilchez assures users that each individual’s AI profile will be stored separately to prevent data leakage and promote personalized responses. “We don’t want AI to hallucinate and confuse responses among users. If Twintual doesn’t know about other accounts, it won’t be able to access them,” she said.
Twintual has already secured API agreements with industry leaders, including Google and Inflection AI, and has received extensive press coverage. The company has also attracted interest from corporate beta testers eager to explore the possibilities of AI for automating digital workflows. “We have three big companies lined up to start using Twintual early in 2025,” Grau-Vilchez said.
The Future of AI in Email
As AI technology continues to advance, Twintual enters a competitive landscape of automation tools vying for dominance in the inbox. Grau-Vilchez remains optimistic that Twintual’s focus on behavioral AI, platform compatibility, and end-user control will set it apart. The ultimate success of AI-driven email assistants like Twintual will likely hinge on their ability to balance both efficiency and personalization.
For those struggling with email overload, Twintual is available on Kickstarter. The service offers a solution to help those buried under electronic messages manage and respond to them more effectively, making the future of digital communication less daunting.
