Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has released a new version of its AI assistant mobile app, incorporating its most recent in-house model as the company strives to remain competitive with its Chinese rivals in the artificial intelligence sector.
The company has retooled its Quark app to utilize its flagship Qwen reasoning model. According to a company statement, “New Quark” now provides users with a comprehensive suite of features within a single app, including a chatbot, advanced reasoning capabilities, and task execution functionality. Building upon a web browser Alibaba introduced in 2016, the app is designed to handle a range of tasks, from generating images to assisting with travel planning, similar to what ByteDance Ltd.’s Doubao app offers its users.
Alibaba also shared a demonstration video that showcased the app’s capabilities, including writing articles based on images and generating meeting minutes.
