Amazon Introduces Alexa+ with Enhanced AI Capabilities
Amazon has launched Alexa+, a new iteration of its voice assistant designed to be more conversational and intuitive, thanks to generative AI technology. This upgrade aims to provide users with a more personalized and intelligent experience, particularly in smart home integration.

Alexa+ is designed to handle everyday tasks more efficiently. It can assist with making reservations, summarizing complex topics, scheduling, and discovering music. The AI assistant will also integrate with third-party services like OpenTable, Ticketmaster, and Uber Eats.
Amazon’s Alexa+ is built on their large language models (LLMs) through Amazon Bedrock and is designed to work across thousands of services and devices.
Enhanced Smart Home Integration
With over 600 million Alexa-enabled devices currently in use, Alexa+ is designed to enhance smart home functionality. For example, the assistant can control devices from brands like Philips Hue and Roborock, manage music across speakers and alert users via Ring security cameras. The system even offers proactive assistance, such as suggesting a different commute route based on traffic or notifying users about product sales.
Subscription Details and Availability
While Amazon Prime members receive Alexa+ at no extra cost, others are required to pay a monthly subscription fee of $19.99 to access the service. The AI assistant will be accessible through Echo devices, a new mobile app, and a browser-based interface. Alexa+ is rolling out in the US, but Amazon has not yet announced an official release date for India. International users will have to wait for further announcements regarding the service’s availability in their respective countries.
