Amazon is actively searching for a new executive to lead the James Bond franchise, according to reports. This follows a move by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who have handed creative control of the iconic film series to the tech giant for a reported $1 billion.
The deal comes as a significant shift, with many in Hollywood reportedly shocked that the rights to the quintessentially British hero would be handed over to Amazon, led by Jeff Bezos. A source shared that the move has “devastated” many involved in the franchise.

Whoever takes on the role of leading the franchise will become a pivotal figure in shaping the future of James Bond.
The new leader will report to Kennifer Salke from Amazon Studios, who is ultimately responsible for the brand’s success.
The acquisition of MGM Studios by Amazon in 2022 for $8.5 billion, has led to what has been described as an uncomfortable working relationship between Salke and Broccoli, particularly following the death of Daniel Craig’s character in the 2021 film. There were reportedly disagreements, including Amazon executives suggesting Christopher Nolan direct a Bond film and Broccoli maintaining control over the final cut. A stalemate was reached in January 2024.
