Amazon has announced that it will be shutting down its Appstore service for Android devices on August 20, 2025. This move signifies that apps downloaded from the Amazon Appstore on standard Android hardware may cease to function after this date.
However, users of Amazon’s proprietary devices, such as Fire TV and Fire Tablets, will still be able to use the apps downloaded from the Appstore. Furthermore, the company’s virtual currency program, known as Coins, which could be used for select app and in-app purchases within the Appstore, is also scheduled to end operations on the same date. This decision may prompt Android users to consider alternatives for accessing and managing their apps in the future.
