The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, a global technology leader, to provide artificial intelligence (AI) skills training to the state’s youth. The initiative aims to equip 200,000 young people with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The MoU was formalized between Microsoft and the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSD), with IT Minister Lokesh present at the signing. This collaboration focuses on developing a skilled workforce for the IT sector and related fields.
Microsoft’s training program encompasses several key areas:
- Training 2 lakh youth for international job markets.
- Training 500 teachers in 50 village schools.
- Training 10,000 students in cloud computing.
- Providing AI training in digital productivity to 30,000 students across 30 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Lokesh have consistently emphasized the importance of equipping the state’s youth with the skills necessary to compete in the global job market. During his previous tenure as Chief Minister, Chandrababu played a pivotal role in fostering IT development, creating a significant number of jobs and improving living standards in both urban and rural areas within the Telugu-speaking states.
Recognizing the transformative impact of AI, Naidu aims to prepare the youth of Andhra Pradesh to succeed in an increasingly AI-driven world. This partnership with Microsoft represents a significant step towards achieving that goal.
