Apple (AAPL) is reportedly pushing back the launch of some of its AI-driven Siri features to 2026, according to recent reports. These features include the ability for Siri to perform tasks within other applications, a capability that has been highly anticipated.
“It’s going to take us longer than we thought,” a spokesperson for Apple told CNBC on Friday. “We anticipate rolling them out in the coming year.”
In January of this year, CEO Tim Cook hinted at a forthcoming ‘more capable’ version of Siri.
Apple Intelligence, a suite of artificial intelligence tools, was designed to enhance Siri’s capabilities. In-app functionalities were discussed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference held in June 2024. Users will now have to wait longer for these features, including Siri’s capacity to assist users in filling out forms by pulling information from images of documents, the reports indicate.
Apple has presented Apple Intelligence as a catalyst for increasing iPhone upgrades, with the new iPhone 16 performing well in markets where the service is available.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Apple shares edged 1.6% higher to close at $239.07 on Friday and have increased approximately 40% over the past year.
