Rashi Duttagupta, a standout student at Arizona State University (ASU), is set to graduate this weekend with a triple major, including a degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the prestigious WP Carey School of Business. Duttagupta is among the first students to complete the innovative business in AI program, marking a significant milestone in her academic journey.
Early Interest in AI
Duttagupta’s journey into the world of AI wasn’t immediate. Initially, she wasn’t convinced about pursuing information technology, but everything changed when ASU announced its artificial intelligence business program. “Immediately, I’m like, I want that. I’m already on track, might as well,” Duttagupta recalled, explaining how she stumbled upon the AI degree.
Pioneering Work in AI
As part of a select group of students, Duttagupta worked on developing an AI program designed to grade student assignments. This hands-on experience gave her valuable insights into the capabilities and challenges of AI. While acknowledging the potential issues associated with AI, Duttagupta remains optimistic about its future. “I think there’s a huge fear that AI will take over everything, but it’ll make our lives easier. But as humans, we need to have a say in what’s going on behind the scenes,” she said.
Career Ahead
Duttagupta’s hard work has paid off, with her securing a job as a consultant with the government on AI issues in Washington D.C. “That was my dream job. I don’t know why, but I wanted to do government consulting. I put all my eggs in one basket, but it seemed to work out in my favor,” she said, expressing her excitement about the new role.

As one of the first graduates of the business in AI program, Duttagupta is poised to be at the forefront of the AI revolution. Her journey serves as an inspiration to students interested in this rapidly evolving field.
