Baidu (9888.HK), the Chinese tech giant, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd (CATL) (300750.SZ), a leading electric vehicle battery manufacturer, are joining forces to advance the landscape of autonomous vehicles. On Thursday, the companies announced a strategic agreement to jointly explore the development of “competitive” driverless vehicles and the creation of innovative business models.
The collaboration will center around the integration of CATL’s advanced battery technology into Baidu’s autonomous driving platforms. The partnership will leverage CATL’s power batteries, battery swapping products and services, and skateboard chassis technology for use in driverless vehicles. This initiative aims to accelerate the development and deployment of autonomous driving solutions.
