Philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates met with key Indian officials this week to discuss ongoing collaborations and future initiatives in healthcare, technology, and agriculture.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda met with Gates to review the progress of their partnership, focusing on improvements in healthcare.
India has made significant strides in areas such as maternal health, immunization, and sanitation with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. “We discussed the remarkable progress India has achieved in healthcare, particularly in maternal health, immunization, and sanitation, through our collaboration with the Foundation,” Nadda said in a post on X. “I acknowledged the Foundation’s valuable support in strengthening health systems and driving impactful initiatives.”
Gates also met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to explore leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics to enhance service delivery in healthcare, education, agriculture, and employment.
Naidu lauded the Gates Foundation’s role in “Swarna Andhra Pradesh 2047,” the state’s long-term development vision. “We believe this partnership with the Gates Foundation will play a crucial role in empowering our people and achieving this goal,” Naidu said.
Gates also visited Parliament during the Budget Session. Earlier, he met with Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, where discussions covered food security, rural development, and the application of AI and Machine Learning in agriculture. “The Gates Foundation has been working with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and we are planning new areas of cooperation,” Chauhan said in a statement.
