The Cardano Foundation has announced a significant strategic partnership with Serviço Federal de Processamento de Dados (SERPRO), a state-owned information technology firm and the largest technology provider for the Brazilian government. The collaboration, unveiled on March 6, aims to accelerate blockchain adoption across Latin America.

SERPRO powers digital solutions for more than 90% of Brazil’s federal administration. The collaboration will focus on key areas, including innovation, blockchain education, and digital infrastructure integration within the public sector. The alliance hopes that the combination of Cardano’s blockchain technology and SERPRO’s expertise will drive the Brazilian government’s embrace of blockchain.
As stated by Alexandre Gonçalves de Amorim, director-president of SERPRO, “This partnership represents a significant step forward in bringing blockchain technology to the heart of public sector innovation.” He added that combining SERPRO’s public sector experience with Cardano’s blockchain infrastructure “we’re positioning Brazil at the forefront of digital government transformation.”
Frederik Gregaard, the chief executive officer of Cardano Foundation, emphasized the significance of partnering with the Brazilian government. The integration aims to modernize Brazil’s public sector through blockchain, simultaneously enhancing transparency and service delivery.
A key aspect of the collaboration involves the Cardano Academy program, which SERPRO will bring to its 8,000 employees, including over 2,000 developers. This partnership builds upon Cardano’s existing relationship with Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil giant, which began in December 2023, focusing on blockchain integration through Cardano Academy initiatives.
