CBS Correspondent David Pogue Shares AI Insights in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. — CBS Sunday Morning correspondent David Pogue shared his thoughts on artificial intelligence and the changing face of media during a recent Yakima Town Hall event.
“I arrived yesterday, and it has been a true Pogue-cation. I mean, this has been so incredible,” Pogue said, expressing his enjoyment of his time in Yakima. “Because of the flight schedules, I have an extra free day before the talk, and an extra free day after the talk.”

Pogue, who has covered technology for decades, spoke to hundreds of attendees at the Capitol Theatre. His discussion focused on the rapid advancements and societal impacts of AI.
“This is what I’ve been trying to say for 30 years, if you don’t need it, you don’t need it,” Pogue stated. “Nobody should shame you for embracing the latest whatever.”
He also addressed the evolution of news consumption.
“Clearly, the biggest change in news is people getting their news from social media, and the gradual shrinking of traditional media,” Pogue observed.
Pogue also noted audience preferences for certain content. Reflecting on viewership for his segments on CBS Sunday Morning, he pointed out that profiles of celebrities often attract more attention than segments on civic issues.
“People on Sunday Morning, they would much prefer the profile of Jennifer Lawrence, or Ben Affleck, they care a lot less about the civic stuff,” Pogue said. “That always makes me sad, because I always learn things doing them, and I think it would benefit the whole world to know more about these topics.”
The next speaker in the Yakima Town Hall series is Jimmy Chin, scheduled for April 23rd.
