CDT to Host 2024 Tech Prom, Featuring Tech Policy Leaders and Artist Exhibition
The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) is excited to announce its 2024 Tech Prom, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at The Anthem in Washington, D.C.
CDT advocates for civil rights and civil liberties in the digital age, promoting policies and designs that empower people while protecting them from misuse of technology. Founded in Washington, D.C., in 1994, CDT also operates an office in Brussels since 2014.
Tech Prom brings together over 1,000 professionals from government, industry, and civil society to discuss emerging issues in tech policy. This year, CDT is enhancing the event with its second annual Tech Prom Artist Exhibition to add artists’ voices to tech conversations.
The exhibition will showcase artwork exploring the impact of data and algorithmic systems. Featured artists include:
- Sophia Brueckner: A futurist artist/designer/engineer. Her “romance series” highlights the intersection of technology and emotion, featuring works like “Captured by an Algorithm” and “Unrequited United.”
- Creative Theory Agency (CTA): A Black-owned creative agency exhibiting “Ad Intelligence: New Age Advertising,” a reflection on advertising’s role in society.
- Curry Hackett: An award-winning transdisciplinary designer and educator, exhibiting a large-scale, AI-generated collage titled “In the Woods, We See Things,” inspired by hush harbors.
