CivicPlus announced its acquisition of Beehive Industries, a software startup based in Lincoln, Nebraska, in mid-January. The move is designed to strengthen CivicPlus’s offerings for local governments.
CivicPlus aims to integrate Beehive Industries’ asset management and utility-billing solutions into its existing suite of products. This will allow the company to provide a more comprehensive range of services through a single technology platform, catering to the evolving needs of its clients.
Founded in 2011, Beehive Industries developed software specifically for public asset management. Their solutions aid local governments in collecting, organizing, and consolidating data. This data is then used to inform decisions related to city and community infrastructure, including areas like wastewater treatment and permitting processes.
“This acquisition reinforces our dedication to supporting local governments and the residents they serve,” stated Mac Rogers, CEO of Beehive Industries.
Aaron Pierce, CivicPlus Vice President of Product Management, noted in an email that the company had been aware of Beehive Industries due to customer overlap and Beehive’s existing integration with CivicPlus’s government CRM software. He confirmed that the entire Beehive team, encompassing product and technology, sales, customer service, and leadership positions, would be joining CivicPlus.
“Beehive’s success is driven by expertise, passion and dedication to serving local government,” Pierce added. “Beehive customers will see that continuity through this transition, as well as benefiting from the expanded team here at CivicPlus.”
CivicPlus, headquartered in Kansas, provides technology solutions designed to facilitate interactions and relationships between residents and local governments. Their platform offers a range of products for government functions, including municipal websites, mass notification systems, and the management of municipal codes.
“Beehive’s robust software solutions, dedicated team members and commitment to building strong customer relationships align with CivicPlus’ vision, helping us create a tailored and impactful suite of solutions,” said Brian Rempe, CEO of CivicPlus. “Together, we are poised to deliver even greater value to our customers.”
The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed by CivicPlus.
