Clarius Mobile Health, the innovator of high-definition handheld ultrasound systems, has announced a partnership with the Savvik Buying Group. This collaboration aims to offer Savvik’s emergency medical services (EMS) members cost-effective access to Clarius’s wireless ultrasound scanners.

Small and ultra-portable, Clarius wireless ultrasound scanners are designed to expedite diagnoses and triage in emergency situations. “We’re located in a rural area that’s between 30 minutes to 2 hours from hospitals so using ultrasound to assess our patients before we decide where to take them can be a life-or-death decision,” said Anthony Luk, Battalion Chief at Loving County Ambulance in rural Texas. He further explained that the technology helps them decide if patients require immediate transport to a trauma center or can be treated at a local facility. Luk noted that the wireless nature of the Clarius ultrasound makes it easy for anyone on their team to use with a phone or tablet.

The Savvik Buying Group, a non-profit organization, facilitates group purchasing discounts for U.S.-based organizations. Its membership includes over 16,000 entities like ambulance services, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, and other EMS organizations. Clarius is currently the sole handheld ultrasound company with a Savvik contract.

“Ultrasound is an extremely valuable and underutilized tool to help first responders make critical patient decisions,” stated Tony Titus, Chief Commercial Officer of Clarius. He expressed the company’s delight in working with Savvik, emphasizing the goal of enabling more first responders to utilize Clarius’s technology.

Since its introduction, the Clarius PAL HD3 dual-array wireless scanner has become popular among first responders. It is used for rapid assessment of cardiac activity, detection of pneumothorax or internal bleeding, and evaluation of abdominal pain and vital organs. The scanner also aids in airway management and streamlines vascular assessments. One-touch live telemedicine capabilities provide access to hospital clinicians for second opinions and assist in preparing emergency rooms for triage.
