Co-op Commits to Continued Partnership with ACI Worldwide
Co-op, the well-known UK convenience retailer, has announced an extension of its ongoing partnership with ACI Worldwide, a prominent payments technology company. This collaboration will see Co-op continuing to utilize the comprehensive suite of solutions offered by ACI’s Payments Orchestration Platform.
This includes support for in-store, online, and mobile payment processing, alongside end-to-end payments and fraud management capabilities. Co-op operates a substantial network of approximately 2,400 stores across the UK, and ACI has been instrumental in the launch of several key payment initiatives over recent years. One notable example is Co-op’s use of ACI’s point-to-point encryption and tokenization technology, which enhances the security of its payment data.
In 2024, Co-op transitioned its entire payments and fraud prevention software stack to ACI’s multi-tenant cloud platform, hosted on Microsoft Azure. Erich Litch, General Manager of Payment Software at ACI Worldwide, emphasized the company’s track record in delivering innovative merchant payment and fraud prevention capabilities. He highlighted the flexibility that ACI’s software provides, allowing merchants globally to quickly design and configure new products while ensuring efficient and secure payment management.
Nick Craig, Head of Europe at ACI Worldwide, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership. He noted that ACI’s advanced technology will support Co-op’s ability to scale and launch new, innovative projects, solidifying its position as a leading UK retailer.
Paul Fletcher, Head of Payments at Co-op, also commented on the extended partnership. He stated that the ongoing collaboration with ACI Worldwide supports Co-op’s commitment to providing shoppers with a seamless, rapid, and convenient shopping experience. Furthermore, he emphasized the role of technology in enhancing payment security, choice, and overall convenience for customers.
