Decatur, GA – February 3, 2025 – Utility Inc., a Decatur-based company specializing in public safety technology, has been included in Government Technology’s GovTech 100 list. This annual compilation recognizes companies that significantly impact the public arena.

Government Technology, a division of e.Republic LLC, compiles and publishes the GovTech 100 list as a compendium of companies that serve state and local government agencies across the United States. In a statement, Utility highlighted that

“As public safety moves toward greater integration, real-time intelligence, and streamlined operations, Utility’s platform offers scalability and future-proof technologies that adapt to the evolving needs of law enforcement agencies, ensuring they stay ahead of the curve.”

Michael Nark, President and CEO of Utility, stated:

“It’s an honor to be named among these outstanding companies that are making strides for public and government agencies. Working each day with frontline professionals is its own reward, as we address today’s public safety challenges and develop forward-looking solutions to enhance community wellbeing.”

Utility, headquartered on East Ponce de Leon Avenue in downtown Decatur, focuses on innovative technology solutions tailored for first responders and public safety professionals. Their reach extends to correctional institutions, educational campuses, and legal practitioners.

Utility’s website describes their digital evidence management system as centralizing body-worn cameras, in-car videos, and automatic license plate recognition technologies. The platform aims to improve efficiency and integration in evidence handling, thereby enhancing legal outcomes and community protection.

According to e.Republic President Dustin Haisler, the GovTech 100 is a platform for acknowledging innovation in the public sector.

“For the last decade, the GovTech 100 has been a cornerstone for curating companies focused on state and local government as their primary customer,” Haisler said. “It has become a platform for validating the incredible innovation in this market – from early-stage startups to publicly traded enterprises. With the rise of exponential technologies and evolving behaviors, the market activity, in many ways, feels like it’s just heating up.”

In early 2024, Utility announced an annual revenue of $60 million, marking a 38 percent increase over the previous year. Although year-end figures for 2024 have not yet been released, the company reported increased engagement with a wider array of law enforcement agencies, including hospitals, universities, public schools, and airport security agencies, which significantly contributed to the company’s strong performance alongside its ongoing investment in new product offerings and global expansion efforts.

Utility’s year-over-year performance showed a 42 percent increase in recurring revenue, a 58 percent increase in gross margins, a 178 percent increase in operating income, and a 31 percent rise in staff.
