Erie County Sheriff’s Office Modernizes Technology
ERIE, PA (WJET/WFXP) – The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is enhancing its technological capabilities to improve public safety and streamline operations. The office began a transition away from outdated systems in 2023 with the goal of benefiting both Erie County residents and taxpayers.
The sheriff’s office, in collaboration with the Erie County 911 Center, has successfully implemented a new specialized records management system and a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. These upgrades are designed to modernize processes and improve efficiency.
Previously, officers relied on radio communication and manual record-keeping using pen and paper. The new CAD system allows officers to access and transfer information through mobile data terminals. It also provides real-time location data for on-duty deputies, allowing for quicker response times and more accurate information in critical incidents.
“These new updates will also help fellow first responders, as information can be shared much more easily,” a representative from the Sheriff’s Office stated. These improvements aim to increase safety and security for all citizens in Erie County.
