Event Safety Alliance Appoints Rob Bergeron as Executive Director
The Event Safety Alliance (ESA) has welcomed Rob Bergeron, CAE, as its second Executive Director, effective April 28, 2025. Bergeron’s appointment brings extensive experience in association management to the role.
“With deep pride and tremendous optimism, I’m thrilled to welcome Rob Bergeron to ESA,” said ESA’s President and Founding Director, Jim Digby. “His leadership marks a pivotal inflection point for this organisation, transitioning us from a founder-led board to a professional organisation with the structure and capacity to meet the expanding needs of our industry.”

The ESA serves the live event industry’s best interests and, ultimately, the audience who enjoy its artistry. Since its founding, the organisation has been driven by a community of passionate volunteers working towards safety across the global live event landscape.
Digby expressed gratitude to Don Cooper for his groundbreaking leadership as ESA’s founding Executive Director. “We are deeply grateful to Don Cooper for more than a decade of leadership. His legacy is woven into the fabric of this organisation, and we’re overjoyed that he will remain an active part of our community in new ways.”
Bergeron’s background in non-profit management includes leading the Oracle Developer & Technology User Group (ODTUG) and the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP). He is a Virginia Tech graduate and holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential.
“I am deeply honored to learn from Don and collaborate with this visionary board of directors toward ESA’s next era of engagement, impact, and growth,” Bergeron said. “I bring a steadfast commitment to its ‘Life Safety First’ mission and am energised to champion a culture of safe and extraordinary live event experiences.”
Bergeron’s appointment is expected to enhance ESA’s capacity to serve the live event industry effectively.
