Foley & Lardner LLP Advises Samsung Venture Investment in Loft Orbital Funding

January 17, 2025 – Foley & Lardner LLP represented Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (SVIC) as an investor in Loft Orbital’s $170 million late-stage funding round. Loft Orbital, a space technology firm, plans to expand its satellite fleet with the new funding. Additional investors included Temasek, Tikehau Capital, and Axial Partners.

Loft Orbital provides services that enable clients to access satellite capabilities without the need to own or operate their own spacecraft. The company acquires satellite buses, integrates customer payloads, and manages satellites in orbit, providing clients with virtual mission access.

This year, Loft Orbital intends to deploy several satellite constellations, including those for EarthDaily, an Earth observation firm, and the U.S. Space Development Agency.

SVIC, the global investment arm of Samsung Group, is headquartered in Seoul. It maintains a significant presence in major innovation hubs across the United States, Europe, Israel, India, China, and Japan. SVIC supports emerging technology startup founders.

The Foley & Lardner LLP team was led by partners Louis Lehot and Lyman Thai, and included associate Wesley Choi.
