Founders Fund has taken the lead in a massive $2.5 billion funding round for defense technology startup Anduril, investing $1 billion. This significant investment comes as part of a Series G funding round, which has seen existing investors also participate, according to an Anduril spokesperson cited by TechCrunch’s Julie Bort. The substantial investment has resulted in Anduril’s valuation doubling to $30.5 billion.
Anduril was founded by Palmer Luckey, the creator of Oculus VR. The company’s growth in the defense technology sector is notable, especially when compared to publicly traded companies in the same space, such as BAE Systems, Boeing, GE Aerospace, General Dynamics, HII, L3Harris Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and RTX.
The defense technology industry is witnessing significant developments, with major players like Lockheed Martin exploring innovative technologies such as quantum computing in collaboration with IBM. Anduril’s partnership with Meta Platforms further underscores the growing interest in defense technology from major tech companies.
