From Ice Cream Cones to Cutting-Edge Communications
Ronnie Selinger’s path to becoming a technology entrepreneur was far from conventional. His first business venture wasn’t in the digital realm, but rather a Baskin Robbins franchise in North Miami Beach, purchased from his father at the young age of 22. But fate, in the form of a high school student hawking ad space, set him on a new course.
The student’s discount card concept, offering advertising on the back, sparked Selinger’s entrepreneurial instincts. Recognizing the potential, he teamed up with ad man Sid Bloom. Together, they transformed the idea into a nationwide business, helping schools generate revenue through sponsorship programs and discount cards.
Over a decade, their fundraising venture thrived, expanding to over 2,000 schools across the country, supported by a network of sales representatives.
The Birth of Nordis Technologies
While building the fundraising business, Selinger encountered a common challenge: unreliable vendors. Outsourcing direct mail operations led to errors and inefficiencies. To solve this, Selinger took the process in-house, which eventually became the foundation of Nordis Technologies.
“We didn’t set out to start a mailing business, it just made sense to do it ourselves,” Selinger told Refresh Miami. “But once we had the infrastructure in place, we realized we could offer the same service to others.”
Nordis didn’t stay a direct mail service for long. A pivotal moment arrived when Wyndham Resorts, a client, required assistance in managing compliance-driven communications such as mortgage and HOA statements. Selinger saw the opportunity to develop a technology solution, automating complex document workflows and providing enhanced client control.
That vision led to the creation of Expresso, Nordis’s flagship communication management platform.
“Expresso wasn’t just about printing and mailing, it was about giving companies the tools to manage their communications efficiently,” he stated. “We made it customer-facing so they could control updates in real-time without relying on third parties.”

A Leader in Critical Communications
Today, Nordis Technologies is a significant force in the critical communications sector, servicing over 150 clients within healthcare, hospitality, and financial services. With 175 employees and facilities in Coral Springs and Las Vegas, the company processes up to 400 million pages annually, in addition to a rapidly growing volume of digital communications.
Technology remains essential to Nordis’ success. While competitors may focus only on print and mail, Expresso’s workflows enable companies to communicate via email, text, and traditional mail – automatically adjusting based on customer preferences and engagement.
“If a customer doesn’t open an email within 48 hours, our system can automatically trigger a printed version,” Selinger explained. “It ensures that critical communications actually reach the recipient, reducing missed payments and service disruptions.”
Looking Ahead
Nordis is expanding into new verticals, including insurance, property management, and collections. The company is also investing in AI-driven analytics to optimize communication strategies and improve payment rates.
Reflecting on his journey, Selinger attributes Nordis’s growth to a combination of vision, adaptability, and effective leadership.
“The universe has helped when we needed it, but we’ve also built a team that embraces change and stays ahead of industry trends,” he noted. “Our goal has always been to make communications simpler and more effective. That’s what drives us.”
